This project was featured on Flutter By Wednesdays!!!
I was totally inspired by Kylie's Pin cushions (WOW are they gorgeous!!!!), and decided to give it a whirl and try one out for myself. I am participating in a couple of stick pin swaps and I need a place to store all of them once I receive them. I loved her idea, and wanted to try it out. Now, granted her's are GORGEOUS, and mine is ok, but no where near the level of hers. I do not sew, nor do I own a sewing machine, so mine is all hand-stitched. But, I like how it came out anyway.
I used some Pink Chinese silk fabric that I had in my stash from my knitting days, and hand stitched the little pouch. Then I used a piece of canvas and stamped the Magnolia Beautiful Tilda on it with Memento ink. I colored Tilda with copics. There is not much blending that can be done on canvas, so I chose to stick with basic colors and blend as much as I could. Then, I stitched the canvas piece to the front. I also stitched a ruffled piece of lace around the center of the entire cushion for extra embellishment. Then, using my hot glue gun, I attached the fabric lollipop flower and some Tim Holtz trinkets. I looped a ribbon at the top so that it could be hung from my craft room wall.this project was quick and easy, once I got started. Thank you so much Kylie for the idea and inspiration, you are one talented lady!!!!

Oh, so much work, Becca! Your pin cushion is simply beautiful and to me very much near those of Kylie, do not humble yourself! And I appreciate the fact that you did the sewing by hand and put a lot of work into it. Love all the elements and your coloring on fabric is awesome. Never did that but I bet it gives one some headaches...lol
ReplyDeleteHugs and have a great week-end,
